What is brow henna?

Brow henna is a natural-based tint that colours both the brow hair and the skin.

With this tint, you can reshape the brows without using needles of any kind. The henna available at Seena Owell has passed all health controls and contains no toxic or harmful ingredients. It is manufactured in India and processed in the European Union.

Brow henna has become one of the most sought-after treatments in beauty salons.

How to use brow henna in professional beauty services

Begin the service by preparing the brows for the following steps. Use a micellar make-up remover. At Seena Owell, we offer an oil-free option from Refectocil.

You can wax or thread the brows if necessary.

The next step is to apply the exfoliant. Gently massage the area to remove dead skin cells. Preparing the brows in this way helps maximise the longevity of the skin stain. To remove exfoliant particles, wipe with a cotton pad soaked in cleansing lotion.

After exfoliation, move on to brow mapping and design. At Seena Owell, you will find pre-inked thread for this purpose, available in white or black. This thread can be used for brow design in any brow service.

Choose the most suitable henna shade for your client. Six shades are available:  black, grey, dark brown, medium brown, light brown and blonde. Bear in mind that henna shades, as they are natural-based, develop a deeper colour.

Always mix henna powder with lukewarm water in equal proportions. Once you have a creamy mixture, apply it to the skin and leave it to develop for the appropriate time, according to the desired brow intensity.

Once the manufacturer's processing time has elapsed, remove with a damp cotton pad until the brows are completely clean.

Explain the aftercare your client should follow to ensure a successful service.

After 24 hours, the client can wear make-up and apply creams without affecting the brow shape.

The service takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. The skin stain lasts 3–7 days, depending on skin type and the aftercare followed by the client.

This service is not recommended for pregnant clients.

It is important to carry out a patch test beforehand.

This service can also be performed after a brow lamination service.

Frequently asked questions about brow henna for professionals

Which professional brow henna brand should I choose: Maxymova or Imperium?

All three are available at Seena Owell and meet European Union health-control requirements. The choice usually depends on the shade range needed by the salon and whether you prefer to work with a complete system (henna + booster + primer + remover from the same brand) or with individual products that can be combined.

Is brow henna suitable for all skin types?

Yes, provided a patch test is carried out beforehand, as recommended by the manufacturer. It is not recommended for pregnant clients. The final result varies according to skin type, which affects both colour intensity and longevity.

Can henna be applied after brow lamination?

Yes, brow henna and brow lamination can be combined within the same professional service when the products used are compatible. This combination adds shape, definition and colour to the brows. However, the application order and timings may vary, so always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

When should brow henna be recommended instead of tint?

Henna is recommended when the client wants to visually correct or fill in the brow shape, as it colours both the skin and the hair. Tint is more limited in this case because it only works on the hair, so it is best reserved for clients who only want to darken or even out the shade without changing the brow design.

How do you choose the right henna shade for each client?

To choose a henna shade, assess the natural hair colour, brow hair colour, skin tone and desired result. In professional work, the aim is usually a harmonious finish, avoiding shades that are too dark or intense. Different shades can also be mixed to personalise the result.

How should the skin be prepared before applying brow henna?

The skin should be clean, dry and free of make-up, oil and cosmetic residue before applying henna. Depending on the protocol, a specific cleanser, scrub or primer can be used to improve even colour development and stain retention. Proper preparation helps achieve a more defined and even result on both skin and hair.

Can different brow henna shades be mixed?

Yes, many professional henna systems allow different shades to be mixed to create bespoke colours and better adapt them to each client. This makes it possible to adjust the intensity, warmth and depth of the shade according to hair and skin. Always follow the proportions and recommendations provided by each manufacturer.
