What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique in which we create manual strokes in the brow area to mimic brow hairs. It is makeup that fades completely from the skin because the pigment remains in the superficial layer. Its duration is between 8 months and 1 year, depending on skin type and aftercare.
The result is that it looks like you have much fuller brows with a more natural and beautiful shape.
Microblading needles
The manual strokes used to draw brow hairs on the skin are performed with special microblading needles. These microblading needles are sterilized and hermetically sealed in individual packs to prevent contamination. This helps prevent any type of infection during the service. A needle must never be reused.
We can find different types of needles that vary in the number of tips, shape, and thickness. Each one has its purpose, allowing you to create thin or thicker strokes, curved or straight lines, or even to shade the brow.
Types of microblading needles:
- 3-prong needle: Recommended for creating the eyeliner line on the eyes. It can also be used to outline the brow.
- 7-prong needle: Recommended for making fine strokes on sparse and thin brows. They mimic the finer hairs that form the brow.
- 12-prong slanted needle: Recommended for making longer, thicker strokes. It can only be used on brows that already have hair.
- 14-prong U-shaped needle: Recommended for creating strokes in both directions and going over the hair without damaging the skin. It can also be used to perform microblading on the lips.
- 9-prong shading needle: Recommended for marking the outer line and filling very specific areas of the brow.
- 12-prong shading needle: Recommended for shading the head and tail of the brow, as its prongs are very short and allow very precise work.
- 4-prong group needle: Recommended for broadly shading the entire brow.
- 18-prong U-shaped needle: Recommended for creating shading vertically, leaving a very natural effect.
Microblading pens
At Seena Owell we offer 5 different pen options so you can choose the one that best suits your preferences: methacrylate, steel, circular stroke, disposable, and triple steel.
Types of microblading pens
- Methacrylate: Detachable and very lightweight.
- Steel: Made up of a long steel handle. It is detachable.
- Circular stroke: You need a U-shaped needle to work with this pen. It creates a circular stroke quickly and easily. Sturdy steel pen.
- Disposable pen: You can choose between a 12-prong slanted or a 14-prong U-shaped option. Disposable and single-use.
- Triple steel pen: Made up of 3 different heads into which different types of needles fit to make manual work easier.
Other products for microblading
In this category you can also find the microblading kit. A very complete kit to start performing the treatment. This kit includes two synthetic practice skins, a methacrylate brow measuring tool, 5 rings for holding pigment, 10 3-prong needles, 5 12-prong needles, and 5 14-prong U-shaped needles. It includes a pencil for brow design and a triple steel pen that makes working much easier. Finally, there are two single-dose pigments: a brown pigment (Castanio) for medium skin tones, and a dark brown pigment (Black Pearl) for darker skin tones.
The microblading pen holder is very useful. It is used to place the pen when we are not using it during the service, preventing the needle from coming into contact with any surface and avoiding contamination.
