Synthetic
These are made from synthetic polymers. They look quite unnatural, as they're thicker, firmer and shinier than natural lashes. They're the most rigid and sturdy, and it's precisely that firmness that allows them to hold their curl perfectly — undoubtedly one of their great advantages. Ideal for women looking for a more dramatic, eye-catching result, these lashes are much shinier than the other options and come in a wide variety of thicknesses and curls. They're recommended for women with healthy, dense lashes, since being a bit thicker than the others also makes them heavier, and they're most often used for a single occasion.
Silk
These are the most popular right now. Silk extensions are made from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), a (semi-)crystalline thermoplastic polymer and a type of polyester that is heated, molded into the desired lash shape, and set when the material cools. It's mainly produced in South Korea.
This synthetic PBT fiber is high quality and
achieves a natural look along with the ability to vary the length and curl of the extensions. It's also worth highlighting its lightness, thanks to which it's possible to attach more than one extension to a single natural lash, achieving the impressive Russian volume effects, without this adding extra weight to the natural lashes.
Another feature of these fibers is that they're more porous, so they adhere better and last longer. Last but not least, synthetic PBT fiber lashes don't cause allergies.

Faux mink
Also known as
faux mink eyelashes, they imitate natural hair but are actually synthetic fibers, not natural ones. The difference from the ones above is that these are designed to imitate natural lashes, so they don't come in different curls, thicknesses or lengths. They're also very lightweight extensions that can stay attached to the natural lash for quite a long time and allow for the 2D and 3D technique.
Natural
Also known as mink lashes,
these are the only extensions made from natural hair, specifically from Siberian mink. This animal origin creates a lot of controversy regarding the hair extraction processes and the care and welfare of the animals.
In any case, these extensions are much finer, softer and silkier than the others, and their look is undoubtedly the most natural of all. However, there are several drawbacks to using them: on one hand, they lose their curl when wet, requiring a curler to reshape them, and on the other hand, there's the high risk of allergies caused by natural hair, which is very important to consider, as it can seriously harm the image of our beauty salon.
