You've surely had a client you treated call you the next day telling you that her eyes are swollen and itchy. Don't panic, everything has a solution.
- If, when she comes back for her appointment after several fills, her eyes are swollen, be careful and don't take risks. Some component we're using probably isn't agreeing with her. Recommend another alternative, such as lash lift or a hydrating serum.
- Swelling immediately after the service is a warning sign that some component is affecting our client and her body isn't accepting it. In that case, we recommend not continuing with the service and being patient — clients can be very insistent.
Tips to improve your service
- Before starting the service, give clients your informed consent form, give them time to read, fill it in and sign it. Read what the client has stated, and if you see she reports having any allergy or eye problems, ask her for more details to make sure the treatment won't be harmful to her.
- Clean the lashes well and prepare them for each treatment. We should explain to the client the cleaning and care routine she should follow at home, emphasising how important it is.
- Choose the right primer for each client. At Seena Owell we have three options: mascara-type, spray, and protein wipes. The primer will remove any minimal oil that may have remained on the lashes after cleaning. Since it contains a small amount of alcohol, it will dry the lash and ensure a perfect bond.
- As we already know, glues give off vapours, and not all our clients are affected the same way. So, if we have a client with sensitive eyes, we should use a hypoallergenic glue with no vapours so it doesn't bother her eyes.
- We have 3 different types of pads: collagen, hydrogel and silicone. Silicone pads are hypoallergenic and therefore don't bother any type of person.
- In case the client feels discomfort while we're working, we can apply air with a small fan so the vapour bothers her eyes less.
- We should cure the glue for between 30 and 60 seconds so that by the time our client leaves the salon it's completely dry and there's no risk at all.
- If you've cured the glue, your clients will be able to wash their eyes even right after leaving the salon. And without losing a single lash!
