Every season, the beauty industry surprises us with new trends and styles that end up making their way into the world of nail art too. If you're already thinking about the designs you'll use to surprise your clients in 2024, don't miss this article.
What does 2024 have in store in terms of shapes, colours and styles?
Natural nails will keep their popularity in various forms.
From nails with a lip gloss-type finish, where the “vinyl” shine effect takes centre stage, to “clean nails” with that “bare-faced” look but with a perfect, elegant finish, to nude nails that give hands a more streamlined appearance.
French nails will continue to be the most requested option, although with the variations we've already been seeing in 2023, such as micro-French, angled French, or metallic French.
Glossy finishes will continue to take centre stage even outside the festive season; the “glazed” finish and metallic tones are a must right now and will still be with us throughout winter.
In terms of shapes and lengths, short nails will continue to be popular, especially for those who value comfort. More natural shapes, such as square with rounded edges and oval, will also remain on trend. And for the bolder among us, we go to the extreme with XXL nails, whether in the ballerina shape (extra-long with a flat tip) or the stiletto, which will also be a very popular choice.
The most requested nail art trends in 2024
In 2024, nail trends are becoming bolder and more creative than ever.
- Natural manicure
This style covers all the designs that aim to show off a healthy, elegant, well-groomed nail. For this design we start with a short nail, but not too short, finished in a rounded or square shape, with no cuticle remnants so there's as much nail surface as possible. For the polish, to achieve the “clean nails” effect, we'll use only shine or very natural tones. We can also opt for a nude tone that helps streamline the hands. Overall, this very natural style achieves a rejuvenating effect on the hands.

- French manicure
It's never missing from this trend list, since there are so many versions that it can be adapted to any season.
In 2024 we'll see it in its finest, most elegant version, with a very fine white line and a pink-toned base. We'll also see coloured French, in tones as elegant as burgundy or in metallic tones with a white base.

Finally, we can't fail to mention the “American manicure”, which is simply a type of French where the base colour is applied afterwards — that is, the white line is done along the nail edge first, and then the base is applied in the chosen tone so that the white line ends up “covered”, less visible than in a traditional French.

- Shimmer
Shimmer colours are a total trend this autumn-winter and will continue into 2024, although we'll see them in lighter colour versions in summer because clients love them. We're “in love” with NeoNail's new collection, which, by the way, you can find in full on our website. The polishes contain shiny particles that create a spectacular flash effect.

- Chrome nails
The chrome and mirror effect remains highly in demand among trend-conscious clients. We'll also see it combined with colours that will take centre stage in 2024, such as brown, which is emerging as the new black this season. To achieve this effect, a chrome powder is added to the polish. At Seena Owell we also have a very easy-to-apply marker-pen format in various colours.

- Minimalist Nail Art
Minimalist designs will be one of the strongest bets in 2024. Small dots, fine lines, minimal inlays that achieve decorated, detailed nails that are still very delicate.
Swirly nails will also be highly requested, that is, with wavy lines, but following this same minimalist line as the one you can see in the image.
