The quality and professional service we offer when applying eyelash extensions is just as important as the removal service, where we must offer the highest guarantee and safety of a complete removal without damaging the natural lashes.
We should always recommend that our clients avoid YouTube tutorials or home remedies to remove eyelash extensions. Professional adhesives are designed to withstand water, soap, sweat… and don't come off easily, so not dissolving it properly can damage the natural lashes and even leave some areas bare.
We also should not offer or sell them the remover for home use. Extension removal should be carried out by a professional at a specialized salon, and preferably at the same salon where they were applied, since the lash technician knows which adhesive was used and which remover is most suitable.
Which product to use
For extension removal we'll use a glue remover, a product that dissolves the adhesive bond between the eyelash extensions and the natural lash.
Not just any remover will do; you need one specifically designed for eyelash extension glue and of professional grade. It's the only way to guarantee correct removal without damaging the natural lashes.
At Seena Owell we recommend:
- Gel remover (available in 10g.). It has a transparent color and gel texture. Although it's simpler and safer to apply than a liquid remover, we always recommend doing so with the client's eyes closed and applying the product with a micro-brush rather than directly from the container.
- Cream remover (available in a 15g container). It's very gentle and could even be applied with the client's eyes open, so we usually recommend it for sensitive eyes. The difference with the previous one is also that, in this case, the product's action time is longer.
How the process is carried out
- We start the process by placing a patch under the eye to protect the skin in that area, just as we would when applying the extensions.
- Using a micro-brush or lint-free applicator, we spread a thin layer of product over the lashes, without touching the base, leaving approximately 1mm from the root.
- We let the product act for approximately 10 minutes so the adhesive dissolves. For cream remover this would be approximately 20 minutes.
- Once the indicated time has passed, we start removing the extensions with a micro-brush, gently combing them out little by little, sweeping softly downward.
- Finally, it's very important to thoroughly clean the natural lash with a damp wipe to remove any product residue. This way, our client won't feel any discomfort or itching when she opens her eyes.
It's a simple process that, when carried out with the right products, not only causes no problems but will give our client a professional and well-groomed look.
