How to Choose the Best Adhesive for Lash Extensions

Cómo elegir el mejor adhesivo para extensiones de pestañas

All professionals in this sector know that one of the keys to applying lash extensions is choosing the right adhesive.

If you're just starting out with this technique, or you already practise it but aren't getting the retention results you want, we recommend reading this article, where we'll give you all the keys to properly choosing the best adhesive for your lash extension services.

The first thing we'd like to highlight is the importance of using a professional, specific lash extension adhesive that's high quality and complies with all health and safety regulations.

That's why we recommend not buying adhesive just anywhere. It's a product applied to natural lashes, so investing in a quality one from a trusted professional shop means investing in health and safety for your business.

All the adhesives we have available in our online shop www.seenaowell.com have passed Spanish and European Union health checks, which confirms they contain no product harmful to health.

What's more, at Seena Owell we have a team of professionals with years of experience in the sector who can advise you on choosing the adhesive best suited to your needs.

How to choose the best glue for lash extensions

Choose the adhesive based on the technique you'll be using

Applying the classic technique (one-to-one) isn't the same as applying volume, and there's a suitable adhesive for each. For example, for the volume technique we want a liquid adhesive that lets us quickly join the fan's lashes without leaving barely any trace of glue on it.

Choose the adhesive based on your experience applying lash extensions

When you're just starting out applying lash extensions, it's best to use a slow-drying, contact adhesive that lets us correct the placement if it wasn't quite right.

Choose the adhesive based on the humidity and temperature conditions where you perform the service

There are glues on the market with greater resistance to humidity and heat. So if you work in an area with high humidity and temperatures, we advise choosing a fast-drying adhesive. This matters because humidity makes glue dry faster than normal. Using a very fast-drying glue wouldn't let you work properly and the extensions would fall out before their indicated time. If your climate is drier, on the other hand, you can work with a very fast-drying glue without the drop spoiling during the service, and with optimal results.

We know there are many variables to consider, so we've put together this guide with the main features of our adhesives to make choosing much easier:

Besides the 3 variables we've just discussed, the storage of adhesives and analysing the temperature and humidity parameters mentioned above are very important. We recommend this article from our Blog where we discuss all this in more detail:

Complementary products

We'd also like to recommend some complementary products that shouldn't be missing from your salon, which will help you control temperature, humidity and adhesive storage:

  • Digital thermo-hygrometer, with which you can measure the temperature and humidity in your cabin, to make sure you have the perfect conditions to get the most out of your adhesive.
  • Airtight container for adhesive storage, which keeps it away from moisture and light.
  • Glue mixer, with which you can mix the lash extension glue components, making the working conditions with it perfect.

Lastly, remember that it's also important to check the product's expiry date. Lash extension adhesives have a shelf life of roughly 1 year unopened, and once opened, a maximum of two months. It's also advisable to check the product's manufacturing date.
