All extension technicians want the same thing: to create a look with
eyelash extensions that leaves our clients delighted, but that's not always achieved.
If your looks aren't wowing clients, make sure you're not making one of these common mistakes.
Poor isolation
Most technicians who are starting to apply eyelash extensions have the same problem: how to isolate a small, thin lash. Attaching an extension to two lashes can be a big problem.
First, you won't achieve the volume and natural look you want to give your client. If we calculate that a person has between 100 and 120 lashes per eye and you attach an extension across two lashes,
the number of extensions applied will be reduced to 60.
Second, you'll damage the lash by forcing it to grow poorly.
Natural lashes don't all grow at the same time; if you join two natural lashes with one extension, you'll force one of them to move faster through its life cycle or to carry an inappropriate weight, and it will fall out sooner. This could cause bald patches in your clients' natural lashes, and that should NEVER happen.
Correct length of eyelash extensions
If we look closely at the lashes, each one has its own length and thickness depending on its growth cycle. In the past we only had eyelash extensions of 0.15 and 0.20 mm thickness to work with. Now we have them from 0.05mm. Take advantage of this to work with different types of volume and adapt them to each client, giving a spectacular result.
Remember that
the maximum length of the eyelash extensions you can apply to your clients is 2 to 3 mm longer than the length of their natural lashes. Applying longer extensions won't necessarily give you a more beautiful look.
The right amount of glue
With a small amount of
eyelash extension adhesive we'll have enough for our extension to last. We used to be taught to apply extensions by "painting" the hair with the glue; this is no longer necessary. A small amount of glue, well adhered between the base of the extension and the natural lash, will be enough to last until the next fill.
Safety distance
Eyelash extensions should
NEVER touch the skin. They should be placed as close to the root as possible, but always with a 1 mm gap from the skin. This will also help the extensions last longer, since as the natural lashes grow, the extensions will have a longer path to travel.
